Fanta Harnesses Eclipsing Moon To Create ‘World’s Largest Vending Machine’

This week, many across North America gathered to take in spectacular views as the Moon passed through the center of Earth’s shadow, resulting in a lunar eclipse that gave off an “orange moon.” 

As such, Fanta Mexico took the opportunity to turn that very moon into the world’s largest vending machine—dispensing the iconic orange Fanta, of course. 

Mexican fans were invited to snap a picture of the eclipse and share it on social media with the hashtag #Fantamoon, as well as tagging the brand’s official Twitter account. 

Once the image was verified by community managers, customers received a direct message with a code for them to redeem a free Fanta at any McDonald’s or 7Eleven. 

Dany Minaker and Sebastian Tarazaga of marketing communications agency Wunderman Thompson, who worked with the beverage maker on the campaign, cheekily said it was an idea that “fell from the sky—or more precisely, from the galaxy.”
