Samsung Introduces Projector To Turn Any Surface Into An 8K, 150-Inch Screen

The bigger, the better, says Samsung with an incoming movie projector that can turn just about any surface into a screen 150 diagonal inches wide.
The South Korean tech giant is placing an ultra-wide viewing experience into the hands of its customers with the Premiere 8K ultra short throw (UST) projector.
For those unfamiliar with USTs, they are a type of projector that can be placed close to the surface it’s casting on and still churn out sharp 100-inch images, whereas more traditional devices would need to be placed at least 10 feet away for the picture to come out clear.
Currently, most 8K projectors are only capable of having a display real estate of 120 inches to keep the images looking crisp and smooth.
That being said, there is one downside to this. As CNET points out, there is a lack of 8K content out there. That’s not to say that any 4K movie you play won’t look amazing, but it’s a shame that the projector won’t be used to its total capacity all the time.
The company has been quiet in other areas of the UST, such as its brightness, refresh rates, number of ports, or whether it will have Dolby Vision.
According to Digtial Trends, Samsung confirmed that the projector would support Dolby Atmos sound systems. It will even host the same features as its flagship TVs, such as Gaming Hub, Art Store, and Health Monitor, but not much else is known. That includes the price or its actual release date.
