‘Titanic’ Remastered Film Poster Has Everyone Wondering The Same Thing
By Mikelle Leow, 12 Jan 2023
It’s an important time for James Cameron, who currently has movie buffs chattering about two of his blockbusters. One of them is Titanic. And nope, this is not the year 1997.
A 3D, remastered version of the classic in 4K and HDR quality will dock at the silver screen on February 10 to mark the 25th anniversary of Titanic’s release. Needless to say, there’s a remastered poster too—but unlike the infamous ship and iceberg, this one wasn’t a hit.
Paramount Pictures’ designers made the curious decision of giving Kate Winslet’s Rose a more modernized appearance, one that straddles between 1912 and, perhaps, the 1980s—prompting the same question from everyone: Why does she have two different hairstyles?
On one side, the character is seen with short, tight curls, while the other side depicts her with long, slightly wavy locks.
And before you ask, here’s the 1997 version, where Rose’s long tresses are evidently swept to the side.

The promotional visual is causing quite the collision, fueling comments like, “She was getting a perm, then the iceberg hit?”

a perm? on the titanic? isn't the first cardinal rule of perm maintenance that you're forbidden to wet your hair for at least 24 hours after getting a perm

Others speculate that the straight locks belong to Titanic’s unofficial second leading lady, Celine Dion.
However, there are some who believe that the design choice is a lot deeper than it being a simple Photoshop fail. They deduce that the look represents Rose’s dual sides, the first being the part of her that conforms to society’s expectations, and the second denoting her choice to let her hair down. Let this theory sink in.
Whether the half-mullet is deliberate hasn’t been clarified by the poster’s creators, and the trail goes icy-cold.
Ahhh in the new one they probably explain there wasn't room on the door cause of her extra hair.

Because it represents the duality of her having to portray her societal role and the life she wishes to have, free, with Jack.

Y’all really don’t get the meaning behind it? It basically represents her two different lives in the movie. One uptight, rich and the other one free from restraints (just like her loose hair)
