Nissan and New Balance are honoring their impact on the Japanese community with a sneaker on wheels that has a little more horsepower than your average shoe.
Kicking the partnership into motion is a car heavily inspired by the 327 New Balance footwear, a hot favorite among customers in Japan.
The Nissan Kicks ‘327 Edition’, based on the Kicks e-Power 4WD, might successfully trick passersby into thinking it is an oversized sneaker on the road thanks to a high-resolution graphic body wrap that mimics not just the New Balance logo but the suede fabric, laces, stitching, and sole as well.
The wrap morphs itself to take on the original shape of the Kicks, and to further sell the illusion of the shoe, its bike rack on its roof has been stylized into the tongue and collar of the 327.
The vehicle will be up for viewing at the Nissan Gallery in Ginza and can be seen driving on the roads of Shibuya.
It should be noted that the car won’t be for sale. Though, tweeting a photo of the Nissan Kicks 327 Edition on the roads of Tokyo could land you the chance to win a Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD or a host of consolation prizes, including special pairs of the 327 sneakers packaged with Nissan shoe charms and laces.
If you’re looking for other cars that have turned into sneakers, Vans did a similar stint in December.
