KFC Creates Winter-Friendly Basketball Court With ‘Bucket’ Hoops

The frigid Canadian winters are not stopping KFC from bringing basketball to the great outdoors. The fast-food chain is aiming and shooting its shot among sporting fans to celebrate the joys of its fried chicken buckets.

In what it’s claiming to be the “world’s first winterized outdoor basketball court,” KFC is inviting fans out into freezing temperatures to keep on the grind through the winter. 

Of course, the ‘KFCourt’ is decked out in the Colonel’s branding, and it has even swapped out traditional hoops for its buckets.
 
Fans and newbies to the game can head on down and pick up new skills from Toronto Raptor Gary Trent Jr, who will be making an appearance courtside.

In order to keep people toasty, the court is offering pre-warmed basketballs to stop hands from freezing. The activation also provides limited-edition Number 11 puffer jerseys in tribute to the iconic and elusive 11 herbs and spices found in KFC chicken.
 
A Pepsi-backed Warming Center will also be equipped with heaters and refreshments. Furthermore, there will be a rotating list of DJs spinning tracks courtside for entertainment.

The KFCourt will be up at The Bentway in Toronto until February 22. Before you rush down to shoot some hoops, though, you will have to book a slot in advance, which will cost US$5. KFC says it will donate the proceeds to the Jump Thru Hoops charity.
