Hublot x Takashi Murakami Put Dazzling Smile To The Face Of Gem-Studded Watch
By Nicole Rodrigues, 06 Feb 2023
Hublot and Takashi Murakami are kicking off their fourth venture with a series of watches that bind together contemporary art and digital art.
The collection features 13 timepieces, each with a collectible, non-fungible token counterpart. Each digital token is inspired by the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black Watch that debuted in the first collaboration between the artist and the watch brand in 2021.
In the previous lineups, 324 NFTs were handed out to customers alongside their pieces. Fans who have those tokens can purchase 12 upcoming watches via a privately accessed e-commerce platform. That said, the 13th iteration in the lineup will be a tad harder to procure.
This particular edition features the iconic Takashi Murakami flower on its face, but this time its 12 petals are encrusted in rubies, sapphires, amethysts, tsavorites, and topaz. And not only are they a pretty sight, but the rainbow parts can move as well.
Thanks to Hublot’s engineers, the petals can rotate on their axis with each movement. Additionally, the dazzling flower is protected by a 45mm ceramic case.
If you want to get your hands on this version, you might have to jump through some hoops first. Interested collectors will have to collect all 12 different NFTs by April 2024 before they can obtain the special timepiece. If no one accomplishes this feat, Hublot will auction it off for charity instead.
The remaining 12 pieces will be unveiled in April this year at the Watches & Wonder event in Geneva.
