Louis Vuitton Announces Pharrell Williams As Its New Men’s Creative Director
By Nicole Rodrigues, 15 Feb 2023
After the passing of Louis Vuitton’s previous creative director, Virgil Abloh, in November 2021, the fashion house has since been on the hunt for a design chief to fill some pretty large shoes left behind by the late visionary. And now it has finally found the perfect fit, the brand announced.
After months of speculation, American rapper, producer, and designer Pharrell Williams is set to take the helm as the new Creative Director for menswear at the luxury label. Williams has had an esteemed career in music from his early years in the group N.E.R.D and coming into his own as a solo artist.
He has amassed numerous number-one singles for himself and other artists he has produced for and not to mention 13 Grammy’s under his belt. But his long-established career in music does not mean he’s not already a star in the circles of high-end fashion yet.
Williams co-founded the streetwear label Billionaire Boys Club in 2003 with fashion designer Nigo. He is also currently the co-owner of G-Star Raw Denim and frequently collaborates with Moncler, Adidas, and Tiffany & Co.
In announcing the new position, the label's new CEO Pietro Baccarni states that the company is happy to welcome Williams back after collaborating with the artist in 2004 and 2008.
