Faber-Castell Illustrates Wonders You Can Create From Just A Pencil And Eraser

Perhaps it’s time to take a step back from the AI art generators and return to basics. Faber-Castell ponders that, in the quest for perfection, we might be overthinking the creative process. It could be much simpler, the stationery brand surmises—just pick up a pencil and an eraser, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
Erasing is Creating, reminds advertising agency DAVID São Paulo in a set of billboards it has created for Faber-Castell. The fun campaign proves that messing up is a part of generating great ideas, and it can even lead you to finding better ways to solve problems.
In this less-is-maybe-more activation, an eraser is seen dramatically changing the contexts of pencil drawings. In one version, a moon-gazing couple is suddenly transported to the lunar surface, where they peer back on the blue marble. And one swipe of the eraser gives one woman, standing alongside her male colleagues, an important-looking sash.
The campaign, imagined in both static and animated forms, will appear on out-of-home and newspaper placements, as well as on social media.
“The minimalist aesthetic of the images demonstrates that the solution to the most complex challenges can be simpler than you might think; we often add layers of difficulty ourselves,” DAVID São Paulo describes in an email to DesignTAXI. “Faber-Castell invites the public to use new angles to creatively face the challenges of the world.”
