Electric Motorcycle Charges Up In A Lightning-Quick 10 Minutes

One of the reasons why people might have reservations about switching from gas-powered automobiles to electric vehicles is the lack of range some EVs might be left with without having a charging station on hand.
Motorcyclists who enjoy touring—long-distance riding—would often find that electric motorcycles have yet to crack the code in ensuring a smooth, hassle-free journey. That was until Lightning Motorcycles stepped in with a lightning-quick solution.
The California e-motorcycle brand’s LS-218 and Strike bikes come equipped with Enevate’s latest battery packs that can recharge as fast as a rider would take to fill up a traditional gas tank. So whether you’re a commuter or a weekend warrior, this bike will take your riding experience to the next level.
Enevate specializes in advanced silicon Li-ion batteries and has placed such technology in the form of a 24 kWh pack into Lightning Motorcycle’s bikes. And thanks to the density of its cells, it comes up to the same size as a 20 kWh battery pack.

According to Electrek, some of the fastest charging bikes were the Energica or the Harley-Davidson LiveWire One. Juicing up the vehicles would only take 30 minutes at their fastest speed. In this case, Lightning Motorcycles promises a 0 to 80% charge in just 10 minutes.
Not only will it save riders time when powering it up, but the extra 4 kWh provides even more range, amping it up from 150 to 170 miles while cruising at 70 mph.
The only catch is that you must hook it to a Level 3 charger. But once that is out of the way, you could be back on your bike, speeding down long highways in no time.
Both models are now up for reservation, but you will need to put a US$10,000 deposit on them. On top of that, if you want to upgrade to the Enevate battery, it will cost another US$8,000. New Atlas reports that the total price would be US$46,000 for the LS-218 and US$28,000 for the Strike.
