Leica Unveils The Q3, Its Latest Everyday Camera With Seamless Connectivity
By Alexa Heah, 26 May 2023
As Leica celebrates a century of crafting world-renowned cameras, what better time is there to unveil the latest addition to its iconic lineup? The brand recently introduced the Q3, an everyday camera that meets photographers’ demand for connectivity without sacrificing quality.
The premium compact camera, which boasts incredible photographic and cinematic performance, is one that’s particularly simple for even the most amateur shutterbugs to produce breathtaking images and videos.
One of the camera’s highlights is how it has been wired for seamless integration and connectivity into everyday life. The powerful photography and videography features allow the gadget to support the creative version of any type of content, be it social media, editorial, or more.
Plus, the Q3’s timeless aesthetic and slim size lends itself to the perfect daily companion that can be brought anywhere, combining a sense of style, cutting-edge technology, and the unique creativity that comes with the photographers that shoot with it.
The gadget features a three-inch high-resolution touchscreen, incorporating an innovative tilting mechanism that provides shutterbugs with unique viewing angles to inspire even more creative shots. Thankfully, it remains well protected against dust and water with an IP52 certification.
In terms of the technical aspects, the gadget boasts a brand-new BSI-CMOS sensor with Triple-Resolution-Technology. Raw images can be shot in either 60, 36, or 18 MP in the DNG format, with JPEG files processed with a “perfect look straight out” of the camera.
The Leica Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH—dubbed an “optical masterpiece”—comes with an integrated macro mode that allows close-up shots from a minimum focusing distance of 17 cm (6.6 inches).
Additionally, the Q3 offers an extended digital zoom, allowing users to zoom to focal lengths of 28, 35, 50, 75 mm, and even 90 mm. Within the software, the Leica Perspective Control (LPC) and Leica Dynamic Range (LDR) help produce picture-perfect JPEGs without post-processing.
Apple users will enjoy special benefits with the device with its certified integration into the ecosystem with an included Leica FOTOS cable. Videos can now be directly uploaded from the camera to smartphones and shared directly to social media or third-party editing applications.
The Leica Q3 will be available globally at all Leica Stores, on the Leica Online Store, and via authorized dealers. It retails at US$5,995. Head here for more information on the newest launch.
