Birkenstock Kicks In Milestones Of Iconic Footwear Styles With Three New Lines
By Nicole Rodrigues, 02 Jun 2023

In 1963, 1973, and 1983, the ‘Madrid’, the ‘Arizona’, and the ‘Gizeh’, respectively, first stepped into the real world and forever reshaped Birkenstock and footwear as a whole.
Birkenstock set itself apart from other sandal and shoe companies with a new approach to ergonomic design. Its footbed curves and dips gently fit each wearer’s feet, and its long-lasting form factor will have it, and you, standing the test of time.
In honor of these cult classics, a new anniversary collection is here to celebrate their milestones.
It all started with the Madrid, a single-strap sandal that was the first to use a cork-latex base for its footbed. It also took after brutalist architecture from the 60s, according to Wallpaper. In the new collection, it will come in its original Brown, Emerald Green, and Pigalle red colorways and “heritage leather.”
Next to celebrate its birthday is the Arizona, which is probably the shoe you would first think about if someone mentioned Birkenstock around you. It has a two-strap design that has almost become synonymous with the brand, and the footwear firm describes it as its “most popular supermodel” in its family. Now, you will be able to purchase it in white and black.
Lastly, we have the Gizeh, a thong-style sandal that followed the wild styles of the 80s. It will now come in a dark red, beige, and brown.
Birkenstock will also throw in a pair of matching socks with every purchase, even though it’s a fashion sin to wear socks and sandals; when it comes to Birkenstocks, it’s all about breaking free and stepping outside societal norms.
The entire collection is now available online.
