While civilizations have evolved dramatically since ancient times, there’s one thing that has transcended, connected, and mutually comforted all generations: soup.
In a new stirring (ahem) campaign by advertising agency TBWA\Sydney, Heinz Australia and New Zealand makes an ode to this time-tested meal by retracing soup’s origins. It is said that one of the oldest records of cooking detailed Pigeon Soup, a dish eaten by the Ancient Sumerians which was documented on a 4,000-year-old tablet.

Today, humanity’s “favorite meal” isn’t just good, but it’s great as it’s so easy to prepare. And as history has proven, it’s a surefire crowd-pleaser anywhere and everywhere.

Katrina Alvarez-Jarratt, executive creative director of TBWA\Sydney, says the witty advertisements invite everyone to “take their place in history” and join their ancestors in the long-surviving tradition of soup-eating.
