Cheez-It Assembles Gas Station With Pump That Fuels Your Car With Crackers

A rest stop is often the saving grace for when that friend in charge of snacks only brings enough for themself during a road trip. But what’s this? As you’re paving through the California desert and stewing in your grumps, you see a red and yellow outlet with a large sign reading ‘Cheez-It Stop’.
“No, it’s not a mirage,” the Kellogg Company reassures hungry and parched fans. The location in Joshua Tree, topped with a yellow, cracker-like roof, is 100% real. Even better, this roadside fill station is meant to nourish your stomach, rather than your car.
Instead of filling vehicles with gas, the Cheez-It Stop’s pump tops up your car with bags of cheesy crackers sprayed into your window. And despite rising fuel prices, drivers can be rest assured that the snack fuel is absolutely free.
Don’t be too eager to zip off to your next destination, though. The cheesy times continue inside the rest stop, with the interior channeling the roadside gift shops of yore. Here, you’ll be able to purchase “absurdly cheezy mementos,” alongside rare Cheez-It flavors that are hard to find in stores.
Explaining the odd installation, Cheez-It brand senior director Erin Storm details, “We know many Cheez-It fans love to travel and they never hit the road without their beloved Cheez-It. We created this brand-first desert outpost to capture the excitement of summer road trips and encourage fans who Want It. Need It. Cheez-It. to fuel up throughout their adventures.”
But maybe it is a mirage. The Cheez-It Stop will only be up for a week from June 5 to June 11. You can find it at 61943 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree, within reach by road-trippers traveling from Los Angeles and San Diego.
