Apple Will Finally Stop Your Rage-Filled Texts From Autocorrecting To ‘Ducking’

When firing away heaps of texts in the group chat to vent about a bad day at work, the last thing anyone wants is for autocorrect to step in. Often, the self-appointed helper decides that the string of expletives should be changed to “ducking.”

While humorous at first, the smile factor certainly wears off when it’s the 20th time an individual hits “send” before spotting and correcting the mistake. Thankfully, Apple’s update will ensure that it never happens again.

According to Boing Boing, Craig Federighi, Apple’s Head of Software Engineering, declared at the recent WWDC 2023 that when users “just want to type a ‘ducking’ word, well, the keyboard will learn it, too.”

As per the BBC, this change comes courtesy of artificial intelligence, which will allow the smartphone’s autocorrect feature to predict an individual’s words and phrases more accurately. So if a user tends to swear often, the iPhone will pick up on that and follow suit.

The tweaks will come as part of the forthcoming iOS 17 launch, which will include a brand-new digital Journal, voice cloning accessibility features, and the ability to send “contact posters” when calling friends.
