Nearly everywhere, burger joints in the country are claiming to be “the best.” How many establishments do you pass daily that hail themselves as “the best burger,” “king of falafel,” or “number one pizza?”
While it’s unlikely there will ever be a consensus on which businesses actually have the best fried chicken, cheeseburger, or kebab, Coca-Cola has found that the stores often agree on one thing: that delicious food should be accompanied with an ice-cold Coke.
In collaboration with advertising guru WPP’s Open X, led by creative agency VMLY&R, Coca-Cola is launching a brand-new campaign across the country’s billboards and newspapers that showcase how often the famed soda brand is mentioned alongside the “best” dishes.
The team embarked on an extensive road trip across the United States, stopping by many restaurants to taste-test their signature items. Throughout, they spotted similar signs over and over again, highlighting just how well Coke seems to pair with almost anything.
As the brand put it, instead of seeking to establish a definitive “best pizza” or “best fries” in a quest for superiority, the hidden yet undeniable truth seems to be ubiquitous across menus and signage everywhere: Coca-Cola.
