Compact Pickup Truck As Small As A Sedan Delivers Big On Storage
By Nicole Rodrigues, 14 Jun 2023
Pickup trucks have long been favored for their practicality in transporting large items. However, they are big, cumbersome, and can be hard to park (especially parallel parking) if you live in more urban areas. A startup called Telo has just the solution for the everyday city-dweller who requires a little more real estate in their vehicle but doesn’t want to own something too big for places like London or Lisbon, or any other old city.
Measuring a mere 152 inches, Telo stands four inches shorter than any other truck on the market, comparable in size to a sedan or a two-door Mini Cooper. What sets Telo apart is its ability to match the storage capacity of a regular pickup truck while maintaining a compact profile. This achievement is thanks to the innovative design vision of Yves Béhar and his studio, Fuseproject. Telo boasts a 60-inch truck bed, a five-seater cabin, and a sleekly sloped nose to reduce overall length.
When larger items like furniture or surfboards need to be transported, the mid-partition can be folded down to extend the bed, providing ample space. Additionally, the folded-down seats serve as storage compartments for smaller items.
Not only does Telo optimize practicality, but it also embraces environmental friendliness through its electric powertrain. Strategically placing the batteries within the chassis maximizes cargo capacity. The pickup will be equipped with a 106 kWh battery pack, offering impressive performance with 500 horsepower, accelerating from zero to 60 mph in just four seconds, and a range of up to 350 miles on a single charge.
The Telo is now available for pre-order, priced at US$49,999, with a deposit of US$152. This compact powerhouse is poised to revolutionize urban transportation and cater to the needs of drivers seeking a versatile yet compact pickup truck.
