Why Work From Home When You Can Work On A Lake In This ‘Canoebicle’?
By Nicole Rodrigues, 26 Jun 2023
Working from home has become a mainstay ever since the COVID-19 lockdown, forcing many companies to rethink office life and its constraints. However, it can get a little monotonous when the only things you interact with daily are the dying plant on your desk or your dog—so why not take a ride on the wild side and make nature your office for a day?
Beer company Leinenkugel is taking a dip into the inner workings of corporate culture and sending intrepid employees on a cruise down the river with the ‘Canoebicle’.
Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a canoe plus a cubicle. What you’re presented with is a makeshift office space in a boat equipped with on-board Wi-Fi, waterproof speakers, a desk, an ergonomic chair, and even an umbrella to prevent glare on your monitor screen so you can WFAL (work from a lake) in peace.
If this is just the sort of wacky adventure you’ve been looking for to add a little thrill to your working day, Lienenkugel is offering the rentable boats in Denver, Milwaukee, and Pittsburgh for US$16 an hour, inclusive of a six pack of Summer Shandy, from July 3.
And for those who don’t live in these three cities, never fear! Your work-cation is not just a pipe dream as the company is holding a sweepstake to win your very own Canoebicle so you can drift down the river while you do up your report whenever and wherever you please.
