KitKat Encourages You To Claim Work Breaks As Deductibles On Your Company’s Dime

While work staples such as pens, clipboards, laptops, or printers may be deductible at the end of the financial year—why not breaks? That’s what KitKat Australia is asking customers by allowing them to claim “essential work breaks” from their companies’ accounts.
For one day only, shoppers can purchase a work item from KitKat’s online store that will come with a complimentary KitKat chocolate bar. And the best part? The entire fee could be tax deductible on the employer’s dime.
It doesn’t matter what one is working as, from office employees to delivery drivers, lifeguards, or part-time referees; there’s something in the store that could qualify as a “work essential” for everyone. Fancy some pencils, notepads, air fresheners, or wide-brimmed hats? There’s everything.
João Braga, Chief Executive Office at Wunderman Thompson Australia, who worked with KitKat on the campaign, told LBB Online that it was odd that workers could claim nearly anything under the sun as tax deductible but not work breaks. Thankfully, KitKat is here to rectify that.
