Is that a bird? Is that a plane? Well, yes, it’s both. It’s a plane decked out in KFC branding, pointing eager fans in the direction of its newest location.
Nestled in the Canary Islands, KFC is asking vacationers out in Tenerife to mosey on down to a bucket of fried chicken awaiting them in the hot Spanish sun.
The fast-food chain and creative consultancy PS21 have customized a plane by local airline CanaryFly. The aircraft is outfitted with an arrow and a sign that says “KFC this way,” which will point towards the new restaurant just north of the Tenerife airport.
Those staying on the island can see the airborne advertisement once a day during daily flights between other islands, including Lanzarote, La Palm, Fuerteventura, and El Hierro.
“The opening of KFC La Laguna is, undoubtedly, a very special occasion, which is perceived with the same enthusiasm as the first time we landed on the island back in 2015. Thanks to the new KFC La Laguna opening, we have regained the growth and the development of the brand and strengthened our ranking in Tenerife as a leading fried chicken brand,” stated Juan José Lecumberri, Padicum head, KFC franchise holder.
In addition, eagle-eyed passersby who manage to catch the plane as it soars over the island will be entitled to free chicken strips. All they would have to do is show the image to the restaurant before being rewarded. And those who are on the airliner can use their boarding passes to claim a free burger on the island.
