Instagram Lets You Add Music To Photo Carousels To Perfectly Portray The Vibe

In June last year, Instagram began taking on TikTok with an updated full-screen interface. Since then, the latter has found itself up against the likes of Twitter, Threads, and even Spotify, as more and more platforms vie for the lion’s share of the crowded social media space.
Back in October, TikTok took a leaf out of Instagram’s playbook with the introduction of ‘Photo Mode,’ in which users are allowed to share multiple still images in a post, along with captions and background music.
Now, it appears the Meta-owned site is planning to do the same, as it recently announced a feature that allows photographers to soundtrack each carousel of pictures with licensed music to match its aesthetic.
“Whether you’re sharing a collection of summer memories with friends or moments from your camera roll, you can now add music to your photo carousels,” the social media network described in a blog post.
In addition, the application is charging ahead with Collabs—now enabling up to three co-authors per feed post, carousel, or reel. Once accepted, the content will be promoted to each collaborator’s audience and featured on each account.
Last but not least, the update concludes with the brand-new ‘Add Yours’ sticker, by which a creator can invite followers to respond to a prompt or challenge on Reels. They can then pick from the submissions to feature on their feed.
“You’ll get notified if a creator chooses your reel as one of their favorites, and others on Instagram can watch your submission when tapping on the ‘Add Yours’ sticker if your account is public,” the social network explained.
