‘Apollo’ Is A Humanoid Robot That Is Ready For The Workforce

With artificial intelligence continuing to tighten its grip in the tech sphere, humanoid robots are not far behind.

Texas-based Apptronik, a developer of industrial robots, is presenting its own addition with ‘Apollo’, a humanoid droid crafted for the rigors of warehouses and manufacturing plants.

Apollo is a friendly-looking bot with just two expressive eyes and an LED mouth for a face and a body that stands at 5’8” and weighs 160 lbs. It is made of a modular design, allowing it to integrate into different plants, so whether you need it to be stationary in a factory or if it needs to transport items around warehouses.

This robot boasts a maximum payload capacity of 55 lbs, powered by hot-swappable battery packs that ensure a continuous four-hour runtime.

What’s intriguing is how Apollo can be commanded. Whether from a computer, phone, or tablet, its software suite gives users control, offering options for point-and-click operation and automation.

While its initial deployment focuses on warehouse environments, Apptronik has ambitious plans to extend Apollo’s utility into retail, construction, and even elder care.

Safety is taken into account via features like object detection and an impact zone that halts Apollo’s movement when it senses motion nearby.
