In its latest spot, Greenpeace has enlisted the voices of celebrities, including Camila Cabello, Jane Fonda, and Simon Pegg, to spotlight the murky, contaminated habitats marine life put up with.
The animated film depicts an eel and flying fish trying to make their way through dirty water filled with used plastic and dead animals to find “clear water,” all thanks to the guidance of a whale.
They encounter various obstacles along the way, educating viewers on the ill effects of industrial fishing, deep sea mining, and climate change leading to rising ocean temperatures.
Produced byRumpus Animation, the clip aims to highlight the importance of ocean sanctuaries—places that provide sea creatures a safe haven from pollution and overfishing taking place around the world.
As Pegg put it, oceans are “a vast and integral part of the planet’s survival mechanism.” Practices that are ruining these waters should not be tolerated, and advertisements like Greenpeace’s will pave the way for the public to get behind these conservation causes.
