To celebrate the enduring legacy of its Trefoil logo, Adidas Originals recently ushered in a new era for its iconic sneakers, focused on the symbol that’s merged culture, sports, and fashion.

Titled We Gave the World an Original. You Gave Us a Thousand Back, the global campaign spotlights three classic Adidas silhouettes: the Superstar, the Gazelle, and the Samba.

To bring the updated vision to life, the sportswear giant enlisted the creative talents of three renowned directors who have each crafted a unique film centered around one of these iconic shoe models.

First up is Daniel Wolfe, a celebrated director and founder of LoveSong production studio. Wolfe’s film revolves around the Superstar, a shoe initially designed for basketball but later adopted by the hip-hop culture, highlighting the footwear’s classic leather construction and timeless silhouette.

Viewers can trace the journey of the sneaker from being a court icon to a global phenomenon, featuring a cameo from the legendary hip-hop group RUN DMC.

Will Dohrn, a self-taught moving image maker, takes the helm for the Gazelle film.

While the Gazelle started as a trainer, its lightweight suede upper and gum sole have become synonymous with trendy streetwear.

The spot tells the story of this iconic silhouette through the lens of a young protagonist who transcends eras while staying true to the archival Adidas apparel timeline.

Last but not least, the Samba, which made its debut in soccer, takes center stage in a commercial directed by the celebrated visual artist Justyna Obasi.

In the film, the director captures the mythical journey of the Samba through time and space, starting with the fluid footwork of young soccer players and culminating in the various cultural scenes that have embraced the shoe.

In addition to the films, Chadwick Tyler has shot a series of triptych stills. Some of these sets feature partners, collaborators, and friends of the brand to cement its status as a global mainstay.
