By Nicole Rodrigues, 19 Sep 2023

Swiss brand IWC Schaffhausen and Mercedes-Benz collaborate to introduce a pair of Big Pilot’s watches inspired by the G-Class for automotive and horology enthusiasts to enjoy.
This dynamic partnership has given rise to two distinct timepieces that embody the enduring spirit of precision engineering. The first of these, crafted in 18-karat Armor Gold, presents a captivating black-and-gold ensemble, paying homage to the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition. Its black dial harmoniously complements the micro-fiber inlay on the rubber strap.

On the other hand, the second watch, forged from Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC), offers remarkable ruggedness, a lightweight build, and an impressive resistance to thermal shocks. Both feature intricately designed dials inspired by the air intakes found in Mercedes-AMG performance cars.
Boasting power-reserve indicators, subsidiary seconds hands, and date windows, they offer practicality alongside their visual appeal. The Armor Gold version features gold-hued markers, numerals, and hands, while the CMC rendition presents a silver-toned counterpart.

Under the hood, these watches are powered by the in-house IWC 52010 automatic Pellaton-winding caliber, renowned for utilizing zirconium oxide ceramic components in the winding system, ensuring long-lasting durability.
On its back, it has a sapphire case adorned with the Mercedes-Benz emblem, which invites a closer look into the intricate mechanisms that breathe life into these timepieces.

In terms of pricing, the IW501201 comes in at a retail price of US$33,400. Meanwhile, the black-toned IW506201 commands a slightly higher price point, hovering around US$42,400. You can take a closer look at both models on the official IWC Schaffhausen online store, although online purchase options are currently unavailable.
