Toy characters and humans rub shoulders at Pop Land, a whimsical new theme park inspired by colorful collectible figures that opened in the Chinese capital of Beijing last week.

The attraction is based on the growing collection of figurines by local toymaker Pop Mart, which has spawned a global phenomenon with its adorable vinyl characters that sport exaggerated features. Dolls are picked up in blind boxes, so collectors never know what they’ll get.

Launched in 2010, the brand has eventually gone on to collaborate with fellow pop-culture greats such as Disney, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, DC, and The Conjuring.

Residents at Pop Land, however, are Pop Mart mainstays like Molly, Dimoo, Labubu, the Monsters, and Pucky. With a castle, cottagecore features, and lovable mascots, the theme park might draw instant comparisons with Disneyland.

With that said, taking up only 40,000 square meters (430,556 square feet) of space, it’s only toy-sized in contrast.

Pop Land swaps out thrill rides for interactive experiences and photo ops with its anime-style icons. Still, it’ll take about 20 minutes to explore its four key zones by foot.

A ticket to Pop Land, located at Chaoyang Park, costs 150 yuan (US$20.80) on weekdays and 180 yuan (US$25) during peak dates.
