Crayola Releases ‘Colorful Hot Chocolate’ That Changes Hues

Crayola is dipping its crayons in the hot chocolate game. Yes, you read that right—the art supplies brand is making edible colors.
As revealed by snack-spotting Instagram accounts Markie Devo and Junk Foodie, Crayola has brought Colorful Hot Chocolate to TJ Maxx stores, just in time for the holiday season. Each cuppa lives up to its maker’s legacy as it transforms into one of Crayola’s many crayon colors.

For all those who were crayon-sniffing weirdos as kids, there’s finally something you can ingest safely. When mixed into water, the drinkable powder takes on a fun and vibrant hue of Firefly Red, Pacific Blue, Emerald Green, or Royal Purple. Sounds loco, but it’s hot cocoa.
The boxes, showing individual crayons in winter wear and enjoying their crayon-hued drinks, mirror the bright yellow packaging that encases the famous children’s stationery supplies.
It appears that the beverage has been in the market for a while, with social media users posting about the wacky product since last year.

Understandably, considering how Crayola has never been known for its food offerings, its hot chocolate is making some shoppers feel off-color.
“I don’t even… Would this qualify as ‘everybody’s so creative’?” one person writes on Instagram.
“Yeah, I’m not eating food made by a crayon brand,” says another.
