Volkswagen is steering the conversation around its electric ID Buzz, and not in the way you might expect. This time, the automotive giant is breaking the modern minivan to its essentials—recycled components.
Through a counterintuitive print campaign crafted by advertising agencies BBDO CHILE and BBDO Ecuador, Volkswagen is ditching the glossy images of the model cruising down scenic roads. Instead, it’s rolling out dumpsters—yes, you read that right—branded with its iconic emblem.

It’s a visual pun that’s hard to miss: the ID Buzz, depicted not as a sleek, futuristic vehicle, but as a pile of plastics on wheels.

The visuals let the materials do the talking, but to dive into the details, the ID Buzz’s interior is composed of old PET bottles and alternatives sourced from the ocean. The seat covers, for example, are made from Seaqual yarn, a material that blends 10% marine debris with 90% recycled PES yarn. Meanwhile, the vehicle’s headliner and floor coverings are spun entirely from recycled polyester.

By focusing on the raw materials—the recyclables that breathe life into the ID Buzz—the campaign highlights a commitment to eco-consciousness that’s both innovative and tangible.
