Polaroid has clicked in a fresh collaboration that lets you snap instant photos with a splash of artistic genius from Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The main focus is a limited-edition Polaroid Now Generation 2 camera, decked out in a unique design inspired by Basquiat’s artwork, particularly his Boy and Dog in a Johnnypump painting. Each camera is “hydro-dipped,” meaning it’s decorated with a one-of-a-kind pattern featuring fragments of Basquiat’s paintings.

No two cameras are exactly alike, making them instant collector’s items.

But the fun is only developing from here, truly, with matching film that also gets the Basquiat treatment. Each pack of Polaroid i-Type instant film comprises 10 different frame designs, each showcasing snippets of the street artist’s bold artwork.

These frames add a personalized touch to your instant photos, making each capture a mini work of art. There’s just one catch—with only eight instant films per pack, you might not snag a photo with every single Basquiat frame design.

Both Polaroid and Basquiat are known for their emphasis on capturing raw, unfiltered moments, and this collection celebrates that shared spirit, encouraging creative expression through the magic of instant photography.
Furthermore, “Andy Warhol and Maripol often photographed Basquiat on Polaroid film, capturing his essence, which in turn inspired Polaroid to curate this collection,” explains Polaroid Chairman Oskar Smolokowski.
The entire Polaroid x Basquiat collection rings in at US$199.99, making it rather accessible to nab a slice of the late Brooklyn artist’s masterpieces. The camera itself retails for around US$129.99, with the special edition film priced at US$19.99 for an eight-shot pack, and a snazzy themed strap available for US$24.99.
