Mattel and Italian design giant Kartell have sat down together for a playful meeting of the minds, bringing together a wonderful collection of chairs reimagined in Barbie’s unmistakable shade of pink. The series, unveiled at Milan Design Week, is no child’s play—it comes in both human and doll sizes.
Paying homage to Barbie’s deep-seated, 65-year legacy, Kartell took five of its most beloved designs—the AI, Venice, Louis Ghost, Masters, and Ero|S| chairs—all originally conceived by famed designer Philippe Starck, and shrunk them down to shiny, Barbie-sized proportions. The pieces were also imbued with PANTONE 219 C, the exact match for Barbie pink, and mark the first Barbie’s Signature collection solely dedicated to furniture.

The miniature chairs, crafted from a blend containing 69% ISCC-Certified Bio-Based Plastic (mass balance approach), perfectly match their full-sized counterparts. This use of sustainable materials showcases the future of plastics, allowing Barbie to live out her most fabulous life in a world that’s kind to the environment.

The commitment to sustainability extends beyond the chairs themselves. The packaging components are made entirely from FSC recycled paper, and the material insert is a blend of 20% wood pulp and 80% bamboo pulp, which is 100% recycled and recyclable.
The Louis Ghost and Masters chairs, in particular, have been crafted in celebration of Barbie’s timeless charm and style. The Louis Ghost chair, with its sleek silhouette and Barbie Pink finish, evokes a sense of whimsy and nostalgia. This miniature version is the perfect addition to any Barbie Dreamhouse.

But these aren’t just for the dollhouse. Kartell has also released adult-sized versions of the Louis Ghost (US$545) and Masters (US$770) in Barbie pink, made from recycled plastic.

Barbie isn’t the only child of Mattel to get the Kartell treatment. Last November, UNO and the furniture brand teamed up for special-edition Componibili storage units and UNO playing cards, which spotlighted the Louis Ghost chair, Battery lamp, Mobil drawers, and Bookworm bookcase.
