There’s no need to camouflage your laughter. The Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards, backed by Nikon and approaching its 10th year, has unveiled some of the standout entries for 2024 so far. Who will emerge as the king of the jungle remains to be known.
Among the hilarious highlights are a sloth just chilling on a branch, a trio of frenemy chinstrap penguins, an illusion of a three-headed giraffe, and a sea turtle questioning, “Who wants to live in a plastic-free ocean? Meeee!,” according to a press release.

No Nikon camera is needed to participate. The contest remains free and open to photography enthusiasts worldwide, and there’s still time to join the fun. The winner will trot away with a safari in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Other prizes feature Nikon cameras, ThinkTANK camer bags, and a brand-new iPad with Affinity Photo for young photographers. Marking 10 years of comedic wildlife antics, an exhibition showcasing the 2024 finalists will run from December 10 to 16 at the Gallery@Oxo in London.
Founded in 2015 by photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam, the Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards celebrates the lighter side of wildlife photography and raises awareness for conservation efforts. This year, the event continues its friendship with the Whitley Fund for Nature, supporting conservation leaders in the Global South.
