Google is bringing artificial intelligence into sharp focus with the unveiling of the Pixel 9 series, a trio of smartphones with the “world’s first AI-powered camera experience.”
Steering the lens is the Google Tensor G3 chip, which drives an upgraded HDR+ imaging pipeline to fine-tune everything from exposure and contrast to tone-mapping, shadows, textures, and skin tones for “true-to-life” snaps.
Bringing motion pictures into the future is the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL’s Super Res Zoom Video feature, which lets you get up close and personal, even when you're far away, with up to 20x zoom in Night Sight Video or Video Boost. Whether you’re capturing a concert from the nosebleed seats or filming nocturnal wildlife, your footage will be clear and crisp.
For those always stuck behind the camera, the Pixel 9’s ‘Add Me’ function now naturally adds you to group shots, relying on augmented reality to insert the photographer into these cherished moments. Take a photo of your friends, then swap places with someone, and your phone will merge these images to include everyone in the picture.
The Pixel 9 series also introduces upgrades to Pixel Studio and Magic Editor. These AI-powered tools put professional-grade editing capabilities at your fingertips, allowing you to remove photobombers, generate objects, enhance colors, or adjust details with ease. The AI’s prowess also allows video recordings of up to 8K, ensuring no detail is lost during post-production.
