Tamagotchi Hatches Digital Pet Toy Made Out Of Real Eggs

Bandai Namco is taking a crack at sustainability with its latest Tamagotchi design. Instead of the usual plastic casing, the new Tamagotchi Original Celebration Egg is housed in a shell made from recycled eggshells.
Set to debut in early 2025, this eco-friendly variant pays homage to the toy’s egg-shaped origins and name, which combines the Japanese words for “egg” (tamago) and “watch” (uotchi). Talk about a full-circle moment.
Thanks to its unique new material, the toy has a matte finish alike a real egg’s surface. Matching its green origins, the device is wrapped in recycled paper packaging.
The new Tamagotchi retains the beloved programming from its 1990s heyday, allowing a new generation to experience the joys (and occasional frustrations) of caring for a virtual pet.

The Tamagotchi Original Celebration Egg will be sold exclusively through Amazon, with a price point set at US$29.99.
