Barbie is illuminating the Festival of Lights in style this year with her first-ever collaborative Diwali-inspired doll, thanks to a new friendship struck between Mattel Creations and renowned Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre. Dressed in a stunning lehenga set, complete with intricate floral motifs, Barbie is a radiant reflection of the vibrant and rich traditions of Diwali.
The Diwali Barbie, adorned in Dongre’s ‘Moonlight Bloom’ set, beautifully weaves traditional Indian craftsmanship and contemporary details. This limited-edition doll is decked out in a choli top, koti vest, and A-line skirt, featuring dahlias, jasmines, and Indian lotus flowers—a nod to strength and beauty. Golden bangles and earrings complete the look, adding a touch of festive sparkle.

This celebration of culture extends beyond the character, with packaging designed to echo the gown’s vibrant elements.

Known for her global fashion empire, Dongre has built her brand on a mission to empower rural women artisans and preserve India’s rich textile traditions, as well as has instilled ethical and sustainable practices into every stitch of her work. Now, she is elevating Barbie’s wardrobe with a deep cultural significance.
