Hot Wheels is shifting into high gear as it joins teams with Formula 1 to bring the excitement of the racetrack with 1:64 scale models, marking the first collaboration between Mattel’s toy car brand and the motorsport tournament.
Leading the race is a limited-edition Hot Wheels die-cast Formula 1 car, now available on the Mattel Creations website for US$25. Decked out in a special Hot Wheels racing livery, this collectible comes with bespoke Real Rider wheels, interchangeable tires of red, yellow, and white, and a full-metal body and chassis.

As a nod to Hot Wheels’ origins, the car’s nose is marked with the number 68—an homage to the year the brand first launched. Inspired by the brand’s “Original 16” designs, the miniature vehicle will also come housed in a collector’s ‘Kar Keepers’ clamshell case.

Hot Wheels and F1 are a “a natural and exciting fit” as both have “always been about nurturing the challenger spirit,” notes Roberto Stanichi, the toy car maker’s executive vice president.

Formula 1’s chief commercial officer, Emily Prazer, echoes that sentiment, highlighting the detailed craftsmanship that fans can expect.

“The exciting collaboration will bring together the adrenaline of motor racing and the excitement of toy cars and provide opportunities to see the fine details that go into an F1 car, all in the palm of your hand,” Prazer elaborates. “It’s a celebration of speed, creativity and innovation that will bring fans a new way to engage with the sport.”
The duo is all revved up for a multi-year collaboration, with more releases to be anticipated through the 2025 season and beyond.
