Adobe is marking five years of Fresco with a brush of good news—it’s unlocking the digital drawing and painting app for everyone. The creative tech giant has announced that users can now access the app’s full suite of tools, completely free of charge.
With this change, Fresco opens the door to both amateur doodlers and professional artists, with more than 1,000 pixel brushes that simulate traditional art materials being liberated. The variety of brushes and tools closely mimic real-world drawing experiences, allowing kids, animators, sticker creators, and even tattoo designers to import their own custom tools and combine vector and raster content on touch and stylus devices.

The latest update also delivers a handful of features aimed at adding precision and creativity. Motion presets like “bob,” “breathe,” and “bounce” offer simple ways to animate artwork in seconds, while reflective and rotational symmetry tools make it easier to create intricate designs with minimal effort.
Fresco users working on Apple devices will benefit from new integrations with the Apple Pencil Pro. These include shortcut squeezes, haptic feedback for key actions, and a “barrel roll” function that mimics realistic brush strokes when the pencil is rotated.

“Drawing is a foundational artistic medium and often how people find their creative passion early in life. As a free app that’s intuitive and fun for anyone to use, Fresco is perfect for aspiring creators and professionals alike,” says Deepa Subramaniam, vice president of product marketing for Adobe Creative Cloud.
