Adobe’s latest tools are making the hunt for that perfect image a lot less painful. The company has just introduced new features in Adobe Stock, powered by its Firefly artificial intelligence, that let users tailor visuals to be uniquey theirs without breaking a sweat.
Stock contributors are also getting a boost from this new rollout. If a user begins with their image as a reference and downloads the edited version, the original contributor will be compensated. According to the creative tech giant, the AI integration not only makes assets more adaptable but also increases their chances of being licensed by brands and users with specific aesthetics in mind.
Helping users carry out their artistic visions are the newly added ‘Generative Edits’ and ‘Generate Variations’ tools, both powered by Firefly.
Starting November 12, Adobe Stock users will access to time-saving Generative Edits options before actually licensing an image. These include the ‘Replace Background’ feature, which lets them swap in a newly generated background by either uploading an image or describing it in a text prompt. ‘Remove Background’ does just what it sounds like—takes out the backdrop, leaving the subject to be used in a composite—and ‘Expand Image’ helps adjust the aspect ratio while keeping the visuals cohesive, ideal for crafting visuals across social media platforms.

Generate Variations offers more creative options with features like Style and Composition. Users can match an image’s style with an existing Adobe Stock visual or tweak the composition to create new, unique outputs that stay on-brand.

Adobe says users have asked for ways to cut down on the time spent searching for content, and the idea for the AI-assisted features is to get them unstuck from the stock photo rabbit hole.
