UNIQLO is celebrating 40 years of iconic basics and casual wear with a nostalgic nod to its beginnings—by revisiting its very first identity.
The limited-edition Unique Clothing Warehouse collection is all about simplicity and heritage, featuring pieces adorned with the brand’s old logo. The collection includes short-sleeve t-shirts and crew neck sweatshirts, with both available in classic black and white.

The logo itself is a modern update, reimagined by UT director Kosuke Kawamura based on an original illustration by Mic*Itaya.

Founded in 1984, the company started off as “Unique Clothing Warehouse,” focusing on everyday, straightforward apparel. When the brand was officially registered in 1988, a clerical mix-up changed its name forever. What was meant to be “Uniclo” was mistakenly spelled “Uniqlo” due to a misread abbreviation. Instead of correcting the error, the company ran with it, and that typo turned into a globally recognized brand name. The rebranding to UNIQLO in 1993 marked the beginning of its worldwide journey, transforming from a local brand to an international retail phenomenon.
