It’s no secret that Jaguar is leaping in a bold new direction, as evidenced by its controversial brand evolution underlined by an all-new logo and abstract taglines like “Copy Nothing” and “Exuberant Modernism.” Now, the British automaker has offered a preview of its future. During Miami Art Week, it showcased the ‘Type 00’, an electric concept signaling a new, emissions-free era.
Pronounced “Type Zero Zero,” the model’s name pays homage to historic Jaguar models, like the E-Type, while signaling the beginning of a new era for the company, complete with zero emissions.
With its striking two-door coupe silhouette, the Type 00 surely makes an impression with its long hood, low roofline, and fastback rear. Intriguingly, the design does away with a traditional rear window, instead featuring a solid rear fascia paired with cameras for rear vision. The massive 23-inch wheels and butterfly doors further enhance the avant-garde appearance of the car. Inside, the Type 00 offers a minimalist yet refined interior, where a brass spine runs through the center, and stone accents bring a unique touch of luxury.
The front end of the vehicle features a distinctive lighting signature that emphasizes the car’s width and stature. The overall design, with its clean lines and sculptural details, marks a dramatic departure from the more restrained aesthetics traditionally associated with Jaguar.
On each side of the car, brass ingots bear the Jaguar ‘leaper’ logo and cleverly conceal rear-facing cameras that pop out when needed—details that add an element of surprise to the already astonishing look.
The rear of the Type 00 continues to make bold statements. The glassless tailgate and a panoramic, body-colored glazed roof contribute to a sculptural look. The back is defined by horizontal strikethrough graphics that hide the taillights until illuminated, adding a bit of drama to the vehicle’s presence. Jaguar describes this model as having a “sense of awe” with its sculptural presence and modern artistry.
The Type 00 is set to serve as the precursor for Jaguar’s future electric grand tourer, expected to arrive in late 2025. The production version aims for up to 430 miles of range with rapid charging capabilities, helping Jaguar meet its ambitious goal of transitioning to an all-electric lineup by 2026.
Painted in two futuristic colors—‘Miami Pink’ and ‘London Blue’—the Type 00 is a visual representation of Jaguar’s combination of modern creativity with a nod to its British heritage.
