Adobe has introduced the Firefly Video Model in public beta, positioning itself as the first to offer a commercially safe AI-driven video generation tool. This latest addition to Adobe's Firefly suite allows users to create copyright-safe video content that can be used in professional production.
The tool is now available in the Firefly web application with Generate Video (beta) and in Adobe Premiere Pro with Generative Extend (beta).
Firefly Video Model builds on the success of Adobe’s generative AI technology, which, according to the tech giant, has already been used to create more than 18 billion assets globally.
Designed with professional-grade control, the model enables the generation of video clips from text prompts, convert static images into motion, fine-tune camera angles, and develop custom motion design elements.
Initially supporting 1080p resolution, Adobe has plans to roll out higher-resolution models in the near future, including a forthcoming 4K version tailored for pro-level productions.
The launch comes with new pricing structures designed to accommodate different usage levels. The Firefly Standard plan, priced at US$9.99 monthly, provides 2,000 video and audio credits—enough for approximately 20 five-second videos at 1080p. For more intensive users, the Pro plan offers 7,000 credits at US$29.99 monthly, supporting up to 70 similar-length videos. Adobe has also announced plans for an upcoming Premium tier targeting high-volume creators and teams.
Beyond basic video generation, the platform introduces features such as Scene to Image (beta), which converts 3D sketches into high-resolution visuals, and Translate Audio and Video, a tool that offers multilingual translations while preserving authentic voice tone and cadence. The system, of course, is compatible with Adobe's existing creative applications, allowing users to refine their work through programs like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Express.
As with all other features from the AI suite, the company reiterates that the Firefly Video model is trained exclusively on licensed Adobe Stock content and public domain materials to address intellectual property concerns that often surround AI-generated content. All synthetically created videos are also tagged with Adobe’s Content Credentials, “nutrition labels” telling you the source of the clips and how they were produced through the initiative’s ‘Inspect’ tool.
