As chicken continues to dominate fast-food menus around the world, KFC is giving itself a fresh coat of batter. The brand is kicking off a refresh that goes far beyond what’s inside the bucket, from new sauces to redesigned restaurants.

The chain, which operates more than 34,000 restaurants across over 150 countries, says it is introducing a more flavor-focused experience aimed at changing consumer habits.

With a new KFC location opening somewhere in the world roughly every three-and-a-half hours, the company is using its global scale to roll out updates across menus, branding, uniforms, and restaurant design.

The visual identity is also getting a makeover. Packaging, typography, photography, and tone of voice are all being refreshed, while the iconic bucket and Colonel Sanders are receiving updated treatments of their own. KFC says the changes are designed to feel more in step with modern culture while keeping its “Finger Lickin’ Good” heritage firmly intact.

The “Finger Lickin’ Good” spirit remains at the center of the redesign, even as the brand adapts to changing tastes and dining habits.

A stronger emphasis on boneless chicken and customizable flavors forms the meat of this overhaul. New menu offerings are being built around dipping and sauce pairings, supported by a global collection of more than 20 sauces that markets can tailor to local preferences. Examples include flavors such as Chimichurri Ranch and Hot Honey Habanero.

Certain markets, including South Africa and India, have already introduced sauce-coated Dunked menu items that place flavor front and center.

KFC is also expanding its beverage ambitions through KWENCH by KFC, a drinks platform featuring products such as boba refreshers, milkshakes, sparkling lemonades, and iced coffees. After being tested in the UK and Ireland, the concept is set to become a permanent offering in Australia and Canada later this year.

The first phase of the rollout begins in the UK and Ireland, where customers will see new chicken tenders, nine new sauces, and refreshed branding across digital channels and marketing materials. Additional launches are planned for the United States, Australia, and other markets throughout 2026.

The changes will extend beyond the menu. KFC is introducing a new generation of restaurants designed to feel less transactional and more hospitality-focused. One upcoming location in McKinney, Texas, will feature an open-concept design inspired by the brand’s heritage, while a two-story restaurant planned for Dubai will showcase another interpretation of the updated look.

After decades of serving fried chicken, KFC is proving there’s always room for a new recipe. It seems the Colonel is turning the page without putting down the bucket.
