NYC Health Officials Advise Kinky Sex As Safer Alternative Amid COVID-19 Crisis

New York City health officials have released an updated guide on practicing safe sex during the coronavirus pandemic.
In line with findings from a Harvard study, the agency recommends staying safe from coronavirus during acts of intimacy by using face masks. “During COVID-19, wearing a face covering that covers your nose and mouth is a good way to add a layer of protection during sex,” the guide reads.
“Make it a little kinky. Be creative with sexual positions and physical barriers, like walls, that allow sexual contact while preventing close face to face contact,” it continues.
The agency also reiterates protection from sexually-transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancy by using condoms.
The previous advisory claimed masturbation to be the safest form of sex, and it remains to be. To encourage self-pleasure, the guide also suggests video dates, sexting, subscription-based fan platforms, chat rooms, and even “sexy Zoom parties.” It also discourages “mouth to anus,” which previously led to hilarious reactions online.
This time round, internet users also had a laugh about the updated guidelines. One user wrote, “Thanks #NewYork. Had the best laugh reading your “safe sex” guidelines. Whose bright idea was that press release?” Metro reporter for The New York Times Michael Gold responded, “So, NYC updated its ‘Safe Sex During A Pandemic’ guidelines and I was not prepared.”
