Apple Unveils iOS 14 With Redesigned Home Screen & Siri, New Picture-In-Picture

Apple unveiled its latest iOS 14, which allows for more seamless navigations across iPhones, at the first-ever digital WWDC. The new iOS update will be available for everyone this fall, and will work on iPhone 6S and up.
A redesigned home screen allows widgets to be placed alongside apps. Users can, for instance, check the weather on their home screens with a weather widget without having to open the app. They can also add or delete widgets found in the ‘Widget Gallery’ to the home screen.

One notable addition is a new app library that lets users access apps more easily without having to swipe through endless screens. The tool organizes apps by grouping similar ones together, for example, it pulls Apple Arcade games into a button. It also allows users to hide apps on their home screen to avoid clutter.

The company has also introduced a new picture-in-picture feature to iOS videos, so you can continue watching videos while completing other tasks on your phone.

iOS 14 also gives users the freedom to set their own default apps, instead of forcing them to stick to native software like Safari and Apple Mail.
Apple has also introduced App Clips, which lets you use core features in apps without having to download them from the App Store. All you need to do is to scan a QR code to use the app’s key features.
The Siri voice assistant has also been redesigned to be less invasive when pulled up. Rather than taking up your whole screen, the virtual assistant appears at the bottom of your phone screen as a small bubble to let you know that it is activated.
iOS 14 also comes with a new Translate app that lets users take text and convert them to 11 different languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Arabic and Russian.
