Apple Tackles Coronavirus By Shifting WWDC 2020 To A Digital-Only Event

Apple has announced that the WWDC 2020 in June will be an online-only event in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The WWDC, which attracts thousands of developers and journalists each year, typically announces Apple’s latest software developments, with one or two product launches occasionally thrown in.
However, due to the virus, Apple’s senior VP of worldwide marketing Paul Schiller said that the tech giant has “created a new format that delivers a full program with an online keynote and sessions that offer a great learning experience for the entire developer community globally.”
Apple has also committed a US$1 million donation to organizations in San Jose to cope with “expected losses,” since the event will not be held in the city.
The announcement corroborates with insider predictions that Apple would be changing the format of WWDC this year to contain the virus. In addition, reports have suggested Apple will delay at least one product launch because production in China is slowing down.
