Disney World’s Splash Mountain Boat Sinks In Unsettling Viral Video

Discomfiting footage taken at Walt Disney World that has made its rounds might have put some off from visiting the theme park, and it’s not just because there’s still a pandemic going on.
The clip, posted on Sunday by first-time Disney World guest Skyelar Ingersoll, shows a Splash Mountain boat filling up with water after the ride’s final drop. Sensing that something was amiss, she and her company self-evacuated the vessel.
“So we got out of our boat because it was sinking…” Ingersoll tweeted. “The Disney World employee decided to tell us that we should’ve stayed in the boat, but it went under as soon as we all stepped out… nice.”
One of the passengers shared before-and-after photos of the affected boat, with the first revealing water at ankle length and the second showing the boat nearly submerged. “Its nose [was] UNDER the log in front of it,” another visitor recounted.
A Disney World spokesperson confirmed that none of the five passengers were injured from the incident.
The ride has resumed operations, though several animatronics were initially switched off when it reopened. “No joke—80-percent of the animatronics are currently off,” one of the guests estimated. “Yikes.”

A ride vehicle has completely sunk on #WaltDisneyWorld Splash Mountain- just after the Riverboat finale scene. Boat is entirely under water, with its nose UNDER the log in front of it. Guests currently being evac’d PAST IT rather than an alternate route. 🤯
