French telecommunications brand Bouygues has found a way to spread some joy during Christmas while keeping children safe from the virus at home.

Along with advertising agency BETC Paris and digital company BETC Fullsix, Bouygues has developed a phone number to connect kids to Santa Claus on WhatsApp. Since 2020 has forced most of the world to go digital due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is only wise for kids to request and connect with Santa Claus the same way.

After sending a text to Santa, he—or rather, an AI—will respond with a video directly from Lapland.

The messages sent to Santa Claus are processed using text-to-speech technology, which are then generated to MP3 using a synthetic voice designed for the experience. Finally, this is analyzed by AI to form a personalized video, complete with animated lip-syncing, that is delivered in a WhatsApp bot.



The campaign aims to give optimism and happiness to kids during this current crisis.
