You better not shout, you better not gloom, ’cause Santa Claus is coming to… Zoom. As the coronavirus continues to linger in the winter breeze, mall Santas are taking their business online this year.
Fast Company’s Steven Melendez cites that one mall Santa provider, Cherry Hill Programs, is bringing the annual one-on-one experience with Santa Claus to Zoom. The company has turned part of its studio into “the North Pole,” where Santa will communicate with families virtually.
Children can engage in quick chats with Santa, sharing things like how their year has been and what they want for Christmas. He’ll also let them know if they have made it on their nice or naughty list. Parents can share a few details about their kids, such as the names of their siblings, for a more personal connection.
After each appointment, grownups will receive a video of the call so they can figure out what gifts to get for the young ones.
Of course, you can’t have a moment with Santa at the mall without taking a picture. To make family photos possible, families can use Cherry Hill’s software and virtual backgrounds to create portraits of themselves and their pets with St. Nick.
You can find out more about Cherry Hill’s remote packages here.
