You Can Now Get Over-The-Counter COVID-19 Tests At A Pharmacy Near You

Despite the ongoing vaccination rollout, COVID-19 hasn’t gone away just yet. Now, if you suspect you’ve come into contact with the virus, you won’t have to spend days anxiously awaiting the test results.
Several at-home COVID-19 tests have landed at retail pharmacies, offering results in as little as 15 minutes.
CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart have launched the BinaxNow kit online at US$23.99, with the kits soon to hit retail stores this week. According to NBC News, the BinaxNow kit is similar to an at-home pregnancy test. The box comes with a dropper, card, and swab.
First, you open the card and apply six drops from the dropper in the top hole to begin the test. You’ll swab the sides of both your nostrils, circling five times. Then, insert the swab into the test hole and rotate it thrice.
After 15 minutes, a line in the test window indicates you’re COVID-19 positive, while a line in the control window means you’re safe.
“A lot of people may wonder, is this allergies? Or is this COVID? And so now we have the ability to find out for ourselves,” Mary Rodgers, Principal Scientist at Abbott Laboratories, told NBC News.
Other at-home tests, as a QuickVue and Ellume, are set to hit retail stores soon.
