Trump’s Blog Closes Down Permanently, Less Than A Month Since Going Live

After facing bans by Twitter and Facebook, former US president Donald Trump decided to reinvent the wheel—he launched his own blog where his loudest thoughts would never be silenced. Alas, less than a month later, that wheel derailed and he is now on mute again.
The blog, From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, is no more. The platform was meant to be “a place to speak freely and safely” for the former president, and supporters could apparently put those posts on blast by sharing them on the social networks that banned him.
Back in March, Trump’s senior aide Jason Miller teased fans and critics that the platform was “going to be big” and “redefine the game.” He expected for it to draw “tens of millions” of members.
But reality can be harsh. According to Input, the blog only raked in an embarrassing 212,000 engagements during the first week of its launch, when traffic should have been at its prime.
Miller has now told CNBC that the blog “will not be returning,” claiming that it was a mere “auxiliary” accessory to “the broader efforts we have and are working on.”
It’s possible that visitors weren’t so enthused about popping by again due to the inability to respond to the posts. Even until the closure of From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, its like button—shaped like a heart—was never activated for use.
All these setbacks aren’t stopping Trump from returning to his online rants, it seems. When asked on Twitter if the blog’s shutdown was a “precursor” to Trump joining another social network, Miller said, “Yes, actually, it is. Stay tuned!”
