Over a month ago, reports surfaced that former US President Donald Trump was preparing to launch a new social media network of his own, following bans from Twitter and Facebook.
Now, it has become a reality, with new blog From The Desk Of Donald J. Trump going live.
It has been presented as “a place to speak freely and safely,” though all readers can do is share Trump’s posts, with no comment function available at the moment. The like button, in a shape of a heart, at the bottom of the posts also doesn’t seem to be active yet.
The archive on the site dates back to March 24, with multiple posts by Trump in his signature cadence, though he’s now entitled to more than just 280 characters. There’s also a ‘News’ section, where readers can view statements by Trump.
According to CNET, although Trump is still banned on Twitter, sharing posts from his new blog isn’t against the platform’s rules.
Facebook has yet to comment on the matter. This comes ahead of the social media platform’s decision on if the former president will continue to be banned on the site. Facebook says it will announce its decision on Monday.
