IKEA Launches Affordable Sensor To Scan The Air Quality In Your Home

City-dwellers will be all too familiar with smog, pollution, and dirty air. Now, IKEA has launched a compact air quality sensor that fits right into your home’s aesthetic, so you know when it’s time to shut the windows and turn up the purifier.
The VINDRIKTNING sensor measures the air quality of a home by detecting tiny particles in the air, known as PM2.5 particles.
These particles include what can be seen with the naked eye, such as dust and haze, as well as other microscopic particles invisible to humans.
Using a traffic-light system, the sensor reflects how good (or bad) the air quality is in the area. If the air quality is good, it’ll turn green, followed by yellow for “acceptable,” and red when the air quality is at an unhealthy level.
Not only is the sensor compact and easy to use, its minimalist white design allows it to fit into any home discreetly. Plus, all it takes to run is a USB-C cable.
By creating products that bring clean air to living spaces, like an air purifier, IKEA hopes to contribute to a healthier life at home. The VINDRIKTNING sensor is available online and in stores across the US for US$11.99.
